Prom 2013

LAST MINUTE PROM MUSTS

It’s that time of year again- prom season! Whether your prom is in a few days, weeks, or years, these tips are essential to have the best prom ever.

Here are some of the top last minute tips for prom, so you can look great, feel great, and have one of the best nights of your life.

  TRIAL & ERROR

http://www.glamour.com
You don’t want to end up looking like a Plain Jane or a clown on the big day. Set a day up at least a week before Prom where you go to your hairdresser and make up artist and have your hair and make up done exactly like you want it to be on your day of Prom. It’s very possible that you have an idea in your head of what you want to look like and it ends up looking horrible. With a hair and make up trial, you can always find the right styles for you.

  FIT IT

http://mayacouture.blogspot.ca
If you buy a dress online you must order one size bigger than you are. Online stores get their dresses made all around the world and their sizes could be made small. It’s easier for a tailor to take a dress in than to make it bigger. I bought my prom dress (in a bigger size) from http://www.promgirl.com and it was even more beautiful than the picture! Try your dress on about once a week to make sure it still fits the way you like. And make sure you know what to do with “the girls”. If you’re dress is backless, strapless, or something of the sort, there are many fashion solutions available to make your girls look fabulous in any situation! Adhesive pads, nipple concealers, enhancers, and more will make your ladies defy gravity and look fabulous. All of these are available on our website!  http://purestylegirlfriends.ca/

   BREAK THEM IN

http://thatsglitchy.com
Yes, 6-inch pumps for prom are incredibly sexy. But also incredibly painful. For a few days prior to prom, wear big thick socks, put your heels on and walk around your house. This way, you’ll already be used to your shoes on the big day and you won’t get the horrible first time blisters (ouch & yuck!)

 PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

http://www.wikihow.com
Try your dress and shoes on you and practice your poses, smiles, and walking in front of your mirror. Find out what you like, what works for you and what looks the best. Even take “selfies” with a camera. You will have these pictures forever and you want to look your best, so practice practice practice!

   WHAT’S THE STORY

http://www.thepromshow.ca
The day of Prom is going to be super stressful already, so knowing the times and details of what’s going on throughout the day will put you more at ease. Make a schedule for the day. Establish what is happening before Prom, how you’re getting there and back, what’s happening after Prom, and also who will be the main “photographer” of the day. Maybe your uncle has a photography fetish, call him!

   GLOW

http://www.huuskonen-u.com
Yes, creams and powders have the power to make your skin shiny, but wouldn’t you love if your whole body just gleamed with beauty? It is possible without buying $200 creams. It’s called fruits and vegetables. These babies have the power to make you glow like a goddess. You should already be eating a ton of these for your overall health, but if you’ve been slacking lately now is the time to get cracking. Eat bananas, berries, kiwis, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables and more! All of this fibre will flush out bad toxins in your body, allowing your skin to glow! A good sweaty gym session a few days a week and a good nights rest will also cleanse toxins from your skin, making you glow even more!

 CLUTCH IT

http://theweddinggurus.blogspot.ca
You’re going to need emergency items in your clutch on Prom. Lipstick, mascara, perfume, tampons, mini hair solutions, and our double-sided fashion tape all fit perfectly in a small handbag! You never know what fashion mishaps can occur throughout the night...

With all of these tips being thrown at you last minute, just remember that the anticipation is the best part. Enjoy getting ready and remember this is a big milestone in your life!

Saskatchewan Fashion Week 2013

This year's Saskatchewan Fashion Week was from May 9th - 11th, 2013. A perfect mix of warm sun and cool breeze. But that's not what I'm here to talk about!

SFW is an annual and provincial celebration of Saskatchewan's thriving and upcoming designers. It gives both the established and upcoming professionals a chance to reveal their Fall/Winter 2013 collections and connect with new clients and networks!

Taken place at the City Square Plaza, Ashley from PSG Canada attended with The Fashion Society and set up a Purestyle Girlfriends booth! She laid out our products in a booth in the SWAG Lounge. She connected with many interested people who inquired about our products.

During the week, Ashley was running around all day and night, enquiring new clients and attending the SFW Fashion events!

Ashley was so interesting to others she got us featured in a blog in the Leader Post and as well as a video interview with CBC Saskatchewan/Radio-Canada in French, how cool is that?

2013 World MasterCard Fashion Week

Another Toronto Fashion Week done! This one was during March, unveiling designers' Fall/Winter collections... so amazing!

Dianna & Ashley from PSG returned for the full week, reconnecting with previous contacts and clients. During the day, they were running around like madwomen and attended the fashion events at night.

On Tuesday night, Dianna & Ashley took part in a networking event with Jodi- Fashion in the Digital World. They set up PureStyle Girlfriends products and got to talk to interested customers one-on-one.
Other nights, they hung out in the "Swag Lounge" of the Toronto Fashion Week. They also partied with Luis and George from The Fashion Society, as well as their Torontonian friend Rafic!

One morning, we had a delicious big breakfast with The Fashion Society!

This Toronto Fashion Week was full of backless fashion, big poofy dresses for weddings and evening wear, and so much more!

Oscars 2013

If you haven't seen the fashion at the Oscars, you already know it was fabulous!

My favourite was Katherine Mcphee. She looked elegant and sexy in a black dress that separated in two.

I thought to myself "Wow, she must have had some great products to pull this off!"
And of course, she did!

Katherine McPhee wore Purestyle Girlfriend's own magical Pick-Me-Up tape!

Zanna Rassi Roberts is a senior fashion editor of Marie-Claire magazine. Zanna was Katharine's stylist for the Oscars!
Here is the segment on E!Online with Zanna explaining how she used PSG's product!

We were very excited & honoured to be featured at such a fabulous event!

Montreal Fashion Week - Semaine de le Mode

During February 4th - 7th, over 20 designers showcased their Fall/Winter 2013 collections. Few fashion addicts were lucky enough to score some seats for the much-anticipated show.

Ashley from PSG Canada attended the event everyday throughout the whole week right after a (long) work day! She handed out flyers, networked, and watched all the runway shows. She ran into Luis from Fashion Society and got to hang out with him all week!

She also met a the lovely Rashi Bindra, who was blogging that week for The Fashion Society! There were so many different bloggers that took pictures of Ashley, she must be all over the net!

Ashley was star struck when she saw Will Smith! Who wouldn't be? He's an amazing man.

Local talented designers showcased their collections, the full list of them can be seen on www.sensationmode.com

PSG Canada donated over 300 samples of our fashion tape for the swag bags, as well as our flyers and cards to those in the industry only.

The Montreal Fashion Week was much different than the one in Toronto. The stage was a celebration of cultural expression of designers and craftspeople. It was beautiful!

Beyonce at the Superbowl

I am not going to sit here and pretend I watched the Superbowl for the football. Or is it hockey? Squash?

I made disgustingly greasy snacks and chowed down with my boyfriend in front of the TV, while he thought I actually wanted to watch (insert sport here).

Truthfully, I've been a hardcore Beyonce fan since I was 8 years old. I would dance in front of my mirror in the middle of night, with my Air Canada headphones on and her album Dangerously In Love playing through my walkman (remember those?) So when I heard she was performing at the Superbowl, I wasn't going to miss it for the world!

And was it ever a PERFORMANCE! Damn. I put those snacks down the second she stepped on stage. Did she really just have a baby? Did she even age? Is Beyonce even human?

Here are pics of Queen B in 2003

And here she is in 2013

The only differences I see are the clothes, hair, and make up. 10 years and 1 baby did not do anything to this woman! She still looks flawless.
Jay-Z must be one proud man. I know I would be.

Wide-eyed and confused, my boyfriend did not why I was screaming during her performance. When Kelly and Michelle came onstage to sing Independent Women, I couldn't contain myself. My whole childhood was right in front of me.

Her performance was outstanding, her vocals phenomenal, her style undeniably sexy. No wonder why they call her Queen B!

As an interesting side note, a Canadian dancer was dancing onstage with Beyonce during this performance! Montreal native Kim Gingras' dreams came true when she got called back to perform with Beyonce after her audition.

Here is the link to Beyonce's full performance, which you definitely need to watch again.
