It’s that time of year again- prom season! Whether your prom is in a few days, weeks, or years, these tips are essential to have the best prom ever.

You don’t want to end up looking like a Plain Jane or a clown on the big day. Set a day up at least a week before Prom where you go to your hairdresser and make up artist and have your hair and make up done exactly like you want it to be on your day of Prom. It’s very possible that you have an idea in your head of what you want to look like and it ends up looking horrible. With a hair and make up trial, you can always find the right styles for you.

If you buy a dress online you must order one size bigger than you are. Online stores get their dresses made all around the world and their sizes could be made small. Try your dress on about once a week to make sure it still fits the way you like. And make sure you know what to do with “the girls”. Yes, 6-inch pumps for prom are incredibly sexy. But also incredibly painful. For a few days prior to prom, wear big thick socks, put your heels on and walk around your house. This way, you’ll already be used to your shoes on the big day and you won’t get the horrible first time blisters (ouch & yuck!)

Try your dress and shoes on you and practice your poses, smiles, and walking in front of your mirror. Find out what you like, what works for you and what looks the best. Even take “selfies” with a camera. You will have these pictures forever and you want to look your best, so practice practice practice!

The day of Prom is going to be super stressful already, so knowing the times and details of what’s going on throughout the day will put you more at ease. Make a schedule for the day. Establish what is happening before Prom, how you’re getting there and back, what’s happening after Prom, and also who will be the main “photographer” of the day. Maybe your uncle has a photography fetish, call him!
